There is recommendation of usage of 20 ml of Mouthwash in small quantity of water after tooth brushing has been done. The proper way to use Mouthwash is to take it inside the mouth, properly splash it around every corner of the mouth, gargle with it, put it inside the mouth for atleast five minutes and then spit it. There should be avoidance of water and food for at least 15 minutes after the use of Mouthwash.

Contents of Mouthwash

There are many main contents of Mouthwash that includes:

Chlorhexidine gluconate: antibacterial agent.

Sodium Lauryl Sulphate: work as detergent.

Alginates, Colloidal Silica: Binding agent.

Sorbitol, Glycorin: Humectants.

Peppermint oil: Flavouring agent.

Fluoride: Active agent.

Triclosan Delmofol.

Mouthwash mainly contains alcohol that can give the false results regarding breathalyser immediately after the use of Mouthwash. So mainly companies are heading towards the making of alcohol free Mouthwash.
